TEAM HARVEY HOGG's 1000cc RACE DEBUT!

Team Harvey Hogg will be making their debut sidecar speedway appearence at this years BMF Show at Peterborough Showground in May.
The ACU contacted Shaun last week and asked if the team would be interested in taking part in the the first two rounds of the 1000cc Track Racing Championships. Shaun spoke with Danny who accepted the challenge and a loan of a 1000cc outfit from Myles Simmonds cemented the entry.
Shaun and Danny are travelling to King's Lynn Speedway on Friday May 11th for a quick 'shakedown' test and Shaun's short answer when quizzed about the forthcoming meetings is "Can't Wait".

Shaun stated "I love speedway and have raced the 500cc sidecar on the shale, but this is going to be just a little different"

But it might not stop on the shale for the 1000cc, a outing on the grass is already being talked about so watch this space.

Rounds 1 and 2 of the 1000cc Track Racing are being held as part of the BMF (British Motorcycle Federation) Rally at the Peterborough Showground over the weekend May 19/20.
The attendance at the BMF May show is between 40,000 – 45,000 people over the weekend and is a perfect day out for all members of the family. Loads of other attractions but obviously the main attraction for Team Harvey Hogg Fans will be the Sidecar Speedway.

WORCESTER WOES

15.04.12

After a great start to the season in Holland, a visit for the mechanical gremlins make it a short day for Team Harvey Hogg in Worcester.

With no racing booked for over a month the team took the decision to ride in the Mick Burton Memorial Trophy. But the less said about the day probably the better.

Shaun and Danny retired for the day two laps into heat two. In the first race the bike had no where near the same power as in Holland a fortnight previous.

In the second race the bike just ground to a halt, the diagnosis a broken electrical selecter. A day not to remember for Team Harvey Hogg.

GREAT START TO THE SEASON

The team travelled to Vries in Holland last weekend and despite Danny feeling under the weather, ended up on the rostrum!

Well this what the winter's hard work has all been about. "Gentlemen, START YOUR ENGINES!"

And start it they did and two heat wins and a second place in the heats saw Shaun and Danny qualify for the A-Final. (See results page)

With second gate pick Shaun took gate four, and his judgement looked solid and the boys made the gate, heading the pack into the first bend. But European Champions Team Matthijssen went up the inside forcing them wide. French crew Christophe Grenier/Gerben Sanders slipped into second place, taking advantage of the gap opened by Matthijssen. Team Harvey Hogg composed themselves and set off in chase of the leading pairings.

But as the chequered flag was waved Shaun and Danny were happy with a podium place in the first meeting of the season.

Shaun remarked "The bike was great, the WM Tuned GM was really quick. We were quicker than second placed Grenier, but he had a great line on one of the bends, I watched William try to get that much quicker line all day and even he couldn't get it".

SEASON OPENER IN HOLLAND THIS WEEKEND

TAPES-UP FOR THE 2012 SEASON

This weekend the team travel to Vries in Holland for the first round of the 2012 Dutch Open Championships.

Shaun remarked "We've put lots of time and effort close season and now it's time to get our racing head's on....I can't wait for the weekend". The boys will be lining up against European Champions William Matthijssen/Natalie Matthijssen and runners-up Mark Detz/Bonita Van Dijk.

The guys will be leaving Friday evening to begin the 950 mile roundtrip to the track.

So good luck Shaun and Danny not just for this weekend but the entire season!

DONNINGTON PRACTICE DAY

The team travelled to Donnington Park on Sunday to blow away the cobwebs in preparation for the 2012 season.

So after a winter of preparing two awesome looking racing machines, it was time to get them 'dialed-in' for the new season. And it turned out to be an expensive test day as the team suffered the first engine blow-up of the season.

But putting that aside Shaun and Danny were more than happy with the way things went and can't wait to start racing. And they won't have to wait long as they travel to Holland this weekend for the season opener!

OCTAIN GETS INTRODUCED TO THE TEAM

Shaun and Danny made the short drive to the Chelmsford headquarters of new sponsors Octain Logistics and Recruitment on Saturday.

They were met by members of staff who had the chance to see the new 2012 machines and get introduced to Shaun and Danny. The sun from the previous day had dissapeared and replaced by rain but nobody's spirits we dampened as everyone posed for some promotional pictures.

Shaun said "The staff came in specially to welcome us. The season starts with us racing in Europe, but as soon as we get some UK meetings lined-up everybody is keen to come and see us in action".

Shaun, Danny and the whole team would like to thank MD Keith Miller and Octain for their support and everyone can't wait for the racing to start.
